Abbot Aelius is the head of the Temple of the Guiding Light in Duchy Jepson. It is apparent that he is allied with the nobility of Jepson, as well as the University for the Study of the Arcane Arts and Sciences.

Most notably for the Shields of the Sorrowfell, Aelius raised Emma in the temple since childhood, acting as her foster father. He also took care of the letter revealing her birth name to be Valna Arshaera.
