It is just over fifty years ago that ruin swept across civilization. Word from the merchant caravans says that the state of affairs on the far-flung Plain of Sorg are not unique — Nerath has fallen, crushed beneath the onslaught of the gnoll horde. The settlements of the Plain survived to varying degrees, but rebuilding efforts are still ongoing, and travelers between towns sometimes never return.

Despite the danger, it is a time of hope. With the death of each kingdom lies the possibility of something new. Perhaps a new kingdom will be forged from the ruins of the old. Perhaps heroes will defend the innocent and help rebuild.

Or perhaps the mercenaries will profit from this uncertain time. Altruism is all well and good, but a body does have to eat.

Ah, well. Every frontier explored and every dungeon cleared is a victory, even if it is for coin.
